 It's March 10th today, which makes it MAR10 DAY!
The day of the year we celebrate all that is good about the fat little plumber/doctor/racer/olympic athlete/tennis player!
So what are your favourite Mario games? Feel free to make a top 10 or just chat about your fave SMB titles/memories!Super Mario Bros was the first game I ever owned. Such a perfect game, over the last 30+ years we’ve seen many games since age terribly. It’s a credit to this game that it’s STILL as fun to play today as it was back then. At the same car boot sale I bought that and my NES I picked up SMB3. Still my favourite 2D Mario. I missed out on the SNES era so SMW never gave me the same kind of memories as it would others. I got Super Mario 64 on my birthday along with my N64. WOW! Seeing Mario jump out that pipe in his three dimensional glory was a sight to behold. I’d spend the next 5 minutes leaping around, doing triple jumps and backflips! I loved exploring the castle and it’s secrets, jumping into every painting I passed just in case! This game defined my childhood. There are few moments in our gaming lives where we are just bowled over, it feels like we are experiencing something new and incredible. SM64 was one of them for me, as was Super Mario Galaxy! The moment I wake up on a small planet with rabbits and are able to run rings around the entire globe was amazing. And it would continue to wow me over and over with it’s epic soundtrack (Gusty Garden Galaxy!), graphics (that moment you fly through the mountains of lava in Melty Molten Galaxy) and perfect gameplay. The sequel was also something special, even if it didn’t hit me quite so hard. So what are yours?! |

My very first Mario game was actually Super Mario Land as i Didn't have a nes. Still one of my faves to this day. as such Super Mario Land 2 is also dear to my heart. My very first home console Mario was Super Mario World. That may be why it had such an impact on me that lasts to this very day. To be honest the last Home Console version to really wow me was Super Mario 64. that was just so monumental at the time. Although i am probably in the minority Sunshine & Galaxy never really did it for me.

I too enjoyed Super Mario Land (and the 6 Gold Coins as well). Firing bouncing balls rather than flames was weird though!
And well, if you are brave enough to admit that Galaxy did nothing for you...I never liked SMW that much...THERE I SAID IT. BAN ME.

Oh Sonic, after the NES introduced me to gaming it was Sonic that convinced me to get a Megadrive. Sonic, Sonic 2, 3 & Knuckles were such amazing games. Loved the speed and multiple routes you could take through each level and the boss fights far surpassed anything in Mario games. The soundtracks were awesome too. Then gaming turned to 3D and it were downhill from there.

Don't have strong feelings for 3D World either way really. After shaking off disappointment it weren't Galaxy I found it a fun enough game. Eh.

You're not alone Doug I feel the same, to be honest I wanted the Wii U for Zelda and Super Mario Galaxy U ( or just a new Super Mario 3D game ) and look how far we are into the cycle and still not one of them. Truly shameful!! |

It really is as shame, they tried to please everyone with a 2D/3D Mario hybrid and satisfied nobody. I realise the 3D Marios never sold as well as the 2D ones but I hope they haven't stopped making them entirely. I mean they must recognise the levels of acclaim these games are held in. Nobody will be talking about NSMBU or 3D World in a decades time.

Some people don't want a 3rd Galaxy game and I kinda get the point but I think they should just finish it off and complete a trilogy ( because why not ). Don't get me wrong 3D world is a fun little game...but it's not a 3D adventure that I was sure we would of had long ago. |

I say Galaxy, it doesn't have to be a Galaxy game, just something in that style or SM64/Sunshine.
