In an interview with IGN, Nintendo Creative Fellow Shigeri Miyamoto said the Japanese game maker was interested in using Apple’s NFC technology with amiibo, the company’s toys-to-life platform.

“There's nothing we can announce today but It’s certainly an area we’re interested in,” Miyamoto said, “and today Apple announced some new news about their NFC technology.”

this i dont like at all, back in the day Satoru Iwata said no to nintendo going smartphone. now its like the well is open for full stream for anything Nintendo, after pokemon got the 'whales' hooked. with this continuing you can end up having do depend on getting the latest smartphone to get the most out of your game... this is an extra cost that im not much interesting it.

Amiibo on smartphones opens up an even bigger market for them. If the phone cakes continue as flag wavers for the main series then fine. I won't feel I'm missing out if I don't get Mario Run but hopefully it will push the name forward.
