Genuinely to surprised to see this post 100% unexpected. Nintendo-Legacy was originally created out of necessity (A lot of the big companies including Nintendo don't like review blogs they want real sites) It's only just over 7 months old over half of which has been recodes, design changes, layout changes and a whole load of other stuff I have little interest (or much expertise) in doing.
It's very much a work in progress but thanks to the fantastic support of the vast majority of Indie devs & now most large 3rd party game companies & even Nintendo themselves it's a big up coming 18 months for the site.
As of Tomorrow the site will feature at least one update every single day (often more than 1) I have an Autistic very young son who on occasions spends almost the entire day in need of company and assistance. The smallest thing can set him off but by the same token sometimes the smallest thing can calm him down. Last week he had a total melt down almost nothing was going to calm him or stop him trying to hurt himself but when his wii u came on and he saw that lego next to that cannon in lego city all was well with the world (he loves loading those pigs in cannons) There are similar experiences with various Nintendo games too all further strengthening not only his bond with Nintendo but my own.
Far more has gone wrong in my life than gone right, I'm near impossible to get to know (at least in person) but no matter where I am in my life Nintendo is & forever will be there.
Nintendo-Legacy runs on a simple aims & goals
Review as many games to release on Nintendo consoles (in pal & Ntsc) as possible from the very start to modern day and beyond (Still considering if we'll do the mobile games)
To provide Master lists for every console (I'm aware Wii U lists need updating will be doing so at the weekend) most pal home consoles are complete and almost all lists will be up & downloadable before the end of the year.
To provide more screen shots from real gamers than any other major gaming website (not hard since most are lazy and only use PR material)
To provide more videos from real gamers than any other major gaming website (again see above)
We provide coverage of tournaments run by the staff including screens and video sometimes.
It's NOT a news site I don't have time to search the web for news stories and even if I did the vast majority of "news" is rumour or rubbish anyway. We'll cover some most major events and post a weekly summary on Sunday but no click bait rubbish like Nintendo life (regardless how much anyone likes that place they've posted over 100 news items since March with the nx tag 80% were absolutely nothing to do with nx like a patent for Quality Of Life it's all click bait bull)
We'll be opening the store sometime between November 2015 & April 2016 The aim is to have a stock list of between 10,000 / 20,000 different items by January 1st 2017 (Have to start small to iron out any issues with the store) I've been in the business for a long time I know how to run it while giving everyone a fantastic deal.
Nintendo-Legacy is unlikely to ever be the biggest Nintendo site (though it's possible in a few years if the store takes off quickly) we won't get the click bait visitors, but we'll do our best to offer Nintendo fans honest reviews, good deals, plenty of game info, screens and media.
They'll be plenty of features including the Mii Art Gallery showcasing the artwork of some talented miiverse users. Legacy challenges some gaming related some real world crazy (even though the fad is over I'll be doing the ice bucket challenge dressed as peach *at 6'2 and a bit of a beard I'm pretty sure I can pull the look off*) We're also trying to find out if there is anyway I can do a sky dive next year dressed as a para trooper (Strict rules on sky dives but were hoping for some compromise somewhere *no promises yet though*) There are a few more at the planning stage but I'm happy to take suggestions.
The site was / is very much a personal project and a tribute to Nintendo for getting me through dark times while also giving me plenty of great times too. The more people who stop by and like what they find (be it check lists, a review they agree with, a video of a guy clearly too big for his princess outfit getting cold and wet, or those 500 Mario kart 8 screen shots *will have to limit contribution screens a little I think*) the better the site is.
From a personal point of view I don't care if it gets one visitor or a million I'd still post everything regardless (would probably get less review codes with just 1 visitor though)
A very special thanks must be made to the staff / contributors who all make the site what it is a fair few of whom are on here already. All contribute game screens giving us more variety and images than most other sites and many help out in other little ways (reviews, features, the amazing art, tournaments, & videos)
Full staff list is here - Legacy Staff
It should hopefully be extend further by the end of the week. If it weren't for the help of these people the site would be a pretty empty shell or I'd have to take on far less reviews so I genuinely thank the all.
Finally Nintendo-Legacy is unlikely to ever have it's own forum I simply don't have time to manage such things it's official recommendation to all visitors will always be Weverse for as long as it's in operation. It's linked to on the home page and there it will remain I hope it will help boost the number a little and make this place special (it already is of course but I'd like to see it take off)
Thanks to Doug for the site plug Sorry to Doug for the length of this post (Miiverse character limit looks good about now right?) Thanks to Doug again (and everyone else here on the team) for the contributions on Nintendo-Legacy
I don't post as much as I like here (Genuinely if I had the time) but I do read most of the stuff and I already visit this place more than Miiverse. I'll make Luma status one day (even though I quite like being a Pikmin to be honest)
Very last thing
Sorry to Doug one last time because I have some waffle to send in a private message in a minute but hopefully it might benefit a few of the members here
