I'll share my thoughts on the Switch console now I've had it for a week!
First of all, it's a very sexy looking device, feels far more premium than the Wii U. The screen is bright and gorgeous, the best display Nintendo have made on a handheld. To touch tho, clearly a different type of screen to the Wii U's, I don't think it would work with a normal stylus so do wonder about applications like Art Academy or even Super Mario Maker. The buttons are dinky, fine for handheld use but really think of investing in a pro controller for Zelda-like games. Speaking of pro controller, very comfortable, one of the best pads I've used.
The software is, in it's current state, clean and tidy but very bare bones. It lacks so many basic features that I'm sure the Wii U shipped with, particularly when it comes to online but it will come. You can save screenshots using a dedicated button which is super quick and easy (unlike saving them in miiverse). You can then upload to either Twitter or Facebook. It really needs it's own activity feed for friends. No excuse. Other consoles have that.
The games, I've posted by thoughts on Zelda in the Breath of the Wild subforum (It's beyond fantastic). I also bought Super Bomberman R but I'm very underwhelmed by it. Single player has an awful perspective and a bit dull, online multiplayer could be fun but feels sluggish. Meh, nowhere near worth the price it is. Fast Racing RMX is as you'd expect if you played it on Wii U. Fun racer that needs better online matchmaking options and tournaments.
So I'm pleased with the console, Zelda is tiding me over for now but eventually I'll be looking for some new exclusives to come it's way.

Nice! I feel the same way about bomberman in general, was always a bit dull imo but i'll check your zelda peice now.
When's mario out? You just wonder how long Nintendo expects botw to keep everyone occupied, i still think mk8 is a major let down. All that stuff could be done on wiiu dlc. 'sept gfx of course!

my impression of the switch one week in...great! feels nice, looks good. I like my pro controller, still a little unsure of the offset joysticks but in time will come to grips(huh? get it...grips?...) still haven't played a game or added any friends...at this time I cant get it online it wont play nice with my router and settings so until I get off my butt (things haven't been good I'm world for a bit) and fix those issues i'm putting and refusing to play anything

I really liked Mega Bomberman (or Bomberman 94 on SNES). Maybe the only one that had a cool single player adventure, i haven't played many. Mario is supposed to be out at Christmas. Long time to wait. 9, that's unfortunate, I hope you get that and everything sorted. Remember to add me

Here's my week one report...
No activity log - huge minus.
Posting to Twitter is a mess, with only handful of miiverse friends on my list.
Parental controls are CRAP. The app is also crap. The user system is flawed too.. Right now, your console is either restricted, or unrestricted.
No password protection on the machine... Really Nintendo? No user passwords, console passwords... Nothing.
Overall the UI is empty and clean, but I'm sure they'll add stuff as time goes by. Still feels like a rushed launch...
The screen is good. Vibrant colours and good brightness indoors. It's a capacitive touch screen, so should be accurate, and offer multitouch in games that use touch controls.
Controls in handheld mode are so-and-so for me. Not as bad as a 3ds, but not that comfortable either. The device is a bit slim to the touch.
Joy-Con grip is to my liking. It works really well as a proper controller! Being old school, I need to test the "buttons as a Dpad" with a 2D platformer before I know will I need a Pro Controller or not... If it works, then I don't have any need to get a Pro Controller at all.
Sideways Joy-Cons work ok. With the added bars it becomes ok to hold in hand. Can't see myself playing for hours on end like that, but Snipperclips with the wife is good fun. It's a wonderful co-op game! Should work on singleplayer too. Very unique and fun, I recommend.
Zelda? One of the best games ever. Switch or Wii U, shouldn't make a difference. The audio is really good on the Switch version, so I could buy their word on better audio...
Overall, I'm not dissapointed, but not overly happy either. It's too early to tell anyway. The games will make the console, and Nintendo has a platform here to make this one really great.

Nice add Harri. I don't have one and even i feel it's a rushed launch going on all the reports but as you say, early days and the games will make it in time so it's still exciting.

I agree lostbhoy. Whether you care about handheld only, or a home console, this thing delivers. I don't really care about state of the art graphics, realism, effects, or anything like that. The only technical thing about games I care about is framerate. Modern games look good enough for me anyway. If the developers make their games run smoothly, the Switch will be a great platform to build upon. If Platinum games managed to make Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U, and the Switch being more powerful than that, there's enough horsepower to bring lively gameworlds to us all.

Have either of you tried the web exploit thingy that's going around? Apparently YouTube has playback support. Get weverse on there!

Haven't heard about it, so no, I haven't tried. Isn't a surprise though, the thing clearly has a working browser engine in it, with html5 support.

No end user web browser just adds to the 'rushed' feeling, i mean you can browse the web with your fridge these days! It's daft little things like that would've really softened the blow on the lack of launch titles, other things to do to keep it in users hands. Ninty always dig their own grave with misses like this. Maybe upcoming games will keep us off the web, is that the plan? XD

They are the only company to get people together online, then break them up, and THEN charge them to play online with friends they don't anymore have..
And now they're attacking their most loyal customers who only try to stay in touch via miiverse.. The same loyal customers who also got the Switch at launch.
"Nintendo" must be Japanese for bitch slap LMAO!
