Not a surprise if the basic specs aren't mind blowing. Nintendo takes existing ideas, twists them and spits out new things to do with them. We know it's all specially made chips so comparisons may be difficult until we know what devs can do with it.
It's fully portable so let's not pretend it's going to be a PS4 beater. I think as well as core Nintendo fans they might pick up more people for a second console as it means a Sony or Xbox owner is effectively buying a portable AND a home console in one.

Nintendo confirmed to Polygon that Switch won’t work as a second gameplay screen in your home. A representative told the site, “Nintendo Switch is dedicated to deliver a single-screen experience, on whatever screen you might choose.” so no wiiu and 3ds games ever on the switch... source

Thats a shame Ron. I also think this answer's the touch screen question. Personaly i didnt think it would be. Seems silly to have a touchscreen that will spend half its time in a dock.

Seems silly to have a touchscreen that will spend half its time in a dock. you can do it on the wiiu, the switch is basically the same. they only have to allow the switch to send the signals to the tv. it have battery power to stay outside the dock... to me it looks like they just gimped the switch so it would be different enough from the wiiu. i expect they will do a lot of remasters now.

Maybe I'm missing something, I'm admittedly not the most tech minded gamer around, but I thought that cartridges were dead for anything but purely portable gaming. Not going with discs is a major reason many third party developers fled the N64 but not many people seem to be concerned about it competing with the big boys.

Flash cards are easier and cheaper to produce, far more durable, have no load speeds and are now bigger in size than optical disks. No need for moving parts either so longer battery life
