Wow you certainly wont have any memory problems now! I went for a lowly 500gb last year. Although i would have liked a 1tb they were more expensive then and i desperately needed an hd for the MK8 & Hyrule Warriors dlc. Had it about a year and still have just under 400gb left!

Had it about a year and still have just under 400gb left! 500gb would have been fine but this was the lowest i could find. Since the initial post, i actually have discovered that although the device is compatable with my WiiU, it doesn't actually work properly because i stupidly never noticed that it does not have it's own AC power source. So, unfortunately i will have to use this as back up for anything else i need it for. I have since jumped onto amazon and ensured i bought the CORRECT device i need, so a 2TB model with an AC adapter if it's own will be with me by the end of the week, and it didn't cost an awful lot either!! Thank goodness.

I have an old Seagate 500GB I think, that I use as it has its own power cable. To replace it for other use I bought a cheap usb one to stick in the laptop.

Yeah ron, the wiiU can't support a usb only powered storage because the output of power is too weak. The drive kept stopping and starting and i just turned it off and removed it because it was causing major problems. Andy, i did see the seagate models too. Ultimately i jist bought another toshiba, but inabsolutely made double and triple sure that it was the right drive before i bought another one. I'll post a new pic when i get the new one

My hard drive doesn't either Rich. all you need is a y cable that connects it to both usb ports at the same time. This HERE is the kind of thing you need. I haven't had a problem yet.

ok so 4give me if the info is somewhere here in this thread but I haven't read all comments yet, but how do you like it? meaning hows it working cause nin10do recommends using a powered hd and and I know the Toshiba is not(least mine aren't) I have the same models in a 1 and 2tb that I store all my music and samples on.

Don't think you were asking me but here is my opinion anyway! I got a 500gb Seagate with a "y" cable that allows it to use one USB port for data and one for power. After a year i haven't had any problems so far.
