This one is a little older, around 98 I'm pretty sure. One of my favorite songs off of one of my favorite FF cds, Edgecrusher. (And yeah I'm aware I'm using the word favorite too much haha)

Was a big Emperor fan in high school! Didn't have any albums but downloaded a bunch of songs. Went through a deep black metal phase for a bit. Dimmu, Cradle, Dark Funeral, Emperor, Mayhem, Dark Tranquility, love em! Anything from Scandinavia (that's still what they call those 3 countries right?) is gold. I think my Swedish heritage makes me biased though

System of a Down are metal. New style of it. If anyone wants to give metal a try (as it's a genre that will never die cos there's more suffering in life than happiness) then I recommend starting with 70s/80s bands that sing instead of growl. Was never a fan of growling myself so most the time I concentrate on the music behind it instead. Same with Rap.

if u dislike rap and I do new rap that is, give trap a try, generally its a rap style beat w/heavy edm influence. not much of a fan of the growling like gwar (I think) I like to know what they are singing about so I can decide if I support the song or not...I have a funny story about a growling metal band I saw in a bar one nite but I gotta find the best way to tell it so it makes sense. I might have a video of it tbh but i'll need to look

I just listen to trip hop instead. Less emphasis on beats. 80s/ early 90s rap was good
Would like to hear that story. There are bands I like that growl like Trivium and Dimmu Borgir.. they're more articulate in the growling and mix songs up with singing too

80/90s rap was good solid stuff, had a point told a story now it all bubblegum rap and hate u cause u got this love me cause I got that crap! i'll need to check out the bands u said. I like speed metal like motorhead. yea its funny tale imo but if I just type it out it losses sumthing in the translation i'm sure. i'll start searching for the vid I have of it

Joe'll enjoy the convo. Sure he'll give more advice than I could about 90s metal onward as I'm predominantly 70-94 (or bands that released newer albums after that time like Ozzy, Maiden, Slayer, Megadeth etc)

Uh oh, the dreaded growling issue has finally arose. Growling has never bothered me personally because it's always been around in my life. I'm a tad younger than some here (27) so the music I listened to growing up already had growling incorporated in it. I usually see that people who came from a time before it was everywhere are the biggest nay sayers on the topic. And I say that not as a "you're old" comment, but as a social observation. I've always been used to it. I give people rides home from work who give me shit about not understanding the lyrics, but I hear it just fine. I sing along with the song and they're blown away that I hear it, but it's just what you're used to I think. I hear deep, gutteral, "singing" all the time so I'm more accustomed, but someone listening to Cannibal Corpse for the first time is probably gonna be pretty lost. But yeah I know it's not easy to understand, I even have to relisten to shit a few times before I'm like "oh that's what he's saying". But if the music is awesome and the vocals fit the music, then it all works out for me. Kinda spacey at the moment so I lost my train of thought haha

I looked it up and there were these kinda cute girls but they had a lil something extra, if you know what I mean. Thanks 9 haha
